The Mountain Caucus is a Marxist caucus within DSA that seeks to win a society that can end all forms of tyranny and exploitation. We recognize that the socialists of recent history have failed to lead the workers in this goal, most especially in the developed world. We identify the root of this failure as a crisis of political consciousness, one stemming from a society designed to ‘prove’ the permanence of capitalism, and the legitimacy of various reactionary ideas. Our points of unity are thus formed around the need to educate the working class on the true nature of our society’s capitalist dictatorship, and the possibility of a better world, because it is only in doing so that we can organize a mass movement capable of conquering the state.
